Brighton Secondary School

Since 2005 the Sub-Branch has been fostering a special relationship with the Brighton Secondary School, where many of our members attended.

Each year the Sub-Branch donates an amount ( $1,500 in 2013) to provide a “Spirit of Anzac Award” for each of the five years of Secondary Education at the School. The recipients are selected by the teachers and those chosen are recognised for their abilities in following the characteristics of the Anzac’s – courage, mateship, fellowship and leadership.

The Sub-Branch and Brighton Bowling Club also donated $3,000 in 2008 to assist 7 students that spent 6 days in France – including Anzac Day ceremonies at Villers-Brettoneaux.  We have also donated a further $6,000 for a similar trip by students in 2011.

At our Dawn Service on Anzac Day each year the School Choirs and Head Prefects play integral roles in what has quickly become a feature of the service.
